The Picture of Dorian Gray - Oscar Wilde - UPDATED REVIEW

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde  Genre : Classics Blurb (on back of book) : Oscar Wilde’s only novel is the dreamlike story of a young man who sells his soul for eternal youth and beauty. In this celebrated work Wilde forged a devastating portrait of the effects of evil and debauchery on a young aesthete in late-19th-century England. Combining elements of the Gothic horror novel and decadent French fiction, the book centers on a striking premise: As Dorian Gray sinks into a life of crime and gross sensuality, his body retains perfect youth and vigor while his recently painted portrait grows day by day into a hideous record of evil, which he must keep hidden from the world. For over a century, this mesmerizing tale of horror and suspense has enjoyed wide popularity. It ranks as one of Wilde's most important creations and among the classic achievements of its kind. My Favorite Books of 2021

It's that time of the year again. 2021 passed by in a blur and to be quite honest, I don't remember basically anything that happened. We had virtual school, my first college acceptance, summer in Washington DC, and 60 books read. Yes, that's way less than I usually read in a year but it was an incredibly stressful, busy year. Now that I'm in my last semester of high school and it's not AS stressful, I hope I will have more time to read and get back to the 100 books per year rhythm.

But anyways, I didn't actually rate a lot of books 5 or 6 stars in 2021, unfortunately. I'm just going to go through the books I read and pick the ones I remember liking, even if the rating isn't top tier. I'll be linking my reviews if you want to see more in-depth explanations! There will only be a few this year, which means they're all the more special to me.

These are in order of how I read them, not by my favorite to least favorite.
