The Picture of Dorian Gray - Oscar Wilde - UPDATED REVIEW

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde  Genre : Classics Blurb (on back of book) : Oscar Wilde’s only novel is the dreamlike story of a young man who sells his soul for eternal youth and beauty. In this celebrated work Wilde forged a devastating portrait of the effects of evil and debauchery on a young aesthete in late-19th-century England. Combining elements of the Gothic horror novel and decadent French fiction, the book centers on a striking premise: As Dorian Gray sinks into a life of crime and gross sensuality, his body retains perfect youth and vigor while his recently painted portrait grows day by day into a hideous record of evil, which he must keep hidden from the world. For over a century, this mesmerizing tale of horror and suspense has enjoyed wide popularity. It ranks as one of Wilde's most important creations and among the classic achievements of its kind. MY OPINION: ****

Yay, I finally finished this series. I make it sound like it was long and boring but it really wasn't and I'm very glad that I got through it with happiness and excitement all around. I loved this entire series and I would love to see more, though I'm 99.9% certain that's not going to happen.

Literally, this book had everything that is needed for a good ending to a series. It wrapped everything up and everything was concluded and efficiently and effectively, making sure that every loose end was tied up, which was a nice surprise (I generally find the last books of series very lacking and empty).

Daemon was snarky/sexy/sarcastic/funny/evil/sardonic as usual. I loved how his character's personality evolved SO much and it really had an obvious growth change from the first book and now.

Katy definitely changed in a maturing way that was obvious and beautiful. She was always "fiesty/strong" but she became braver and determined and she was more willing to fight if it meant saving the ones that she loved.

I loved the whole idea of the two ENEMY races combining forces to defeat the larger enemies. That was such a revolutionary/gamechanging idea that really needs to be incorporated into society more often. The Arum and the Luxen have been enemies for the entire series but in this finale, they decided to work together (after a long deliberation and a sick/fake proposition) to fight against the "bad" Luxen and the overall enemies. This was such a new idea for the overall series and I loved how it was incorporated into the story.

And Hunter and Lore were definitely my new favorite characters. They were so sweet and it shows how a small handful of people from a "group" or "race" doesn't represent the whole. I loved their personalities and their ability to keep their cool after the utter destruction of their beautiful home. They were helpful and although Hunter came off as "scary" or "enemy-like" I instantly loved him.

ARCHER AND DEE WERE LIKE MY NEW FAVORITE CHARACTERS OMG I LOVE THEM. They were literally so cute after Dee "came back" and I loved their relationship. I also loved Daemon's semi-maturing personality towards his sister's relationship. He definitely realized that after everything that went on, Dee needed Archer to help and heal her.

Also, Beth and Dawson and Ashley were all so cute! I loved the whole Ashley thing and how it remembered Ash, who wasn't everybody's favorite character but didn't deserve what happened to her at all.

I loved how it all ended. I would recommend this entire series to readers looking for a fantasy-romance-scifi series!

Main Character: Daemon, Katy
Sidekick(s): Dee, Archer, Luc, Dawson, Hunter, Lore, etc
Villain(s): ENEMIES, etc
Fantasy/SciFi Elements: This book was based on fanatic elements and had loads of aliens.
