The Picture of Dorian Gray - Oscar Wilde - UPDATED REVIEW

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde  Genre : Classics Blurb (on back of book) : Oscar Wilde’s only novel is the dreamlike story of a young man who sells his soul for eternal youth and beauty. In this celebrated work Wilde forged a devastating portrait of the effects of evil and debauchery on a young aesthete in late-19th-century England. Combining elements of the Gothic horror novel and decadent French fiction, the book centers on a striking premise: As Dorian Gray sinks into a life of crime and gross sensuality, his body retains perfect youth and vigor while his recently painted portrait grows day by day into a hideous record of evil, which he must keep hidden from the world. For over a century, this mesmerizing tale of horror and suspense has enjoyed wide popularity. It ranks as one of Wilde's most important creations and among the classic achievements of its kind. MY OPINION: *****

At first, this book bored me. Everything happened so fast. From the beginning, she got the guy. Then as the book moved on, I got more and more hooked.

This book was just as good as the first two and honestly, I don't know which one I liked the best! I thought I loved Book One and then Book Two came along and now here's Book Three. Honestly, I loved them all and I'm so glad I had the chance to read them.

Isla was such an amazing character. I loved it but I really wish I could have read from the guy's point of view this time. Or someone else's point of view. PLEASE make novellas from other characters' point of views! That would be amazing! Anyways, back to Isla. I loved reading from her character but at some points I thought she was kind of stupid and idiotic because she was so quick to jump to conclusions and she was TOO modest. Yes, that was annoying. If you think a guy likes you, just think it and don't say no.

Josh. Sweet and sentimental and artsy and amazing. Ha, that was an alliteration. Two of them, and I didn't even mean to. Josh was such a perfect character. I understood him and cried with him and laughed with him and experienced heartbreak with him.

THIS BOOK GAVE ME LEGIT PHYSICAL PAIN. That's just a warning. The story was so heart wrenching that I would scream. I loved it.

This book had a lot more romance it than in the first two books, I think. I think it's because it sped up really quickly from the beginning and gave us more time to read about their relationship.

The ending. I can't even. WHY ISLA WHY?! HOW COULD YOU GIVE UP A GUY LIKE JOSH??? Thank god they got back together.

I loved all of the cameos from Anna and Etienne and Cricket and Lola and Calliope. Those made my day. Again, you really don't have to read the first two to understand this one but I thought it was nice because I could recognize some of the characters.

ANNA AND ETIENNE GOT ENGAGED. OMG OMG OMG. THEIR HAPPILY EVER AFTER IS COMPLETE

I would recommend this book to romance lovers.
