The Picture of Dorian Gray - Oscar Wilde - UPDATED REVIEW

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde  Genre : Classics Blurb (on back of book) : Oscar Wilde’s only novel is the dreamlike story of a young man who sells his soul for eternal youth and beauty. In this celebrated work Wilde forged a devastating portrait of the effects of evil and debauchery on a young aesthete in late-19th-century England. Combining elements of the Gothic horror novel and decadent French fiction, the book centers on a striking premise: As Dorian Gray sinks into a life of crime and gross sensuality, his body retains perfect youth and vigor while his recently painted portrait grows day by day into a hideous record of evil, which he must keep hidden from the world. For over a century, this mesmerizing tale of horror and suspense has enjoyed wide popularity. It ranks as one of Wilde's most important creations and among the classic achievements of its kind. It's Not Summer Without You - Jenny Han

It's Not Summer Without You by Jenny Han
Genre: YA Realistic Fiction

Image result for it's not summer without youBlurb (on back of book): Belly finds out what comes after falling in love in this follow-up to The Summer I Turned Pretty from the New York Times bestselling author of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before (soon to be a major motion picture!), Jenny Han.
Can summer be truly summer without Cousins Beach?
It used to be that Belly counted the days until summer, until she was back at Cousins Beach with Conrad and Jeremiah. But not this year. Not after Susannah got sick again and Conrad stopped caring. Everything that was right and good has fallen apart, leaving Belly wishing summer would never come.
But when Jeremiah calls saying Conrad has disappeared, Belly knows what she must do to make things right again. And it can only happen back at the beach house, the three of them together, the way things used to be. If this summer really and truly is the last summer, it should end the way it started--at Cousins Beach.

MY OPINION: ******

Someone buy me this series for Christmas.

I love this book.

You cannot possibly understand how much.

This series is beautiful, adorable, realistic, a gem, amazing.

Belly is such an adorable character. She's REALLY immature at some points and she makes a BIG fool of herself in front of Conrad. And I love her. She's smart and she's determined to make things right once she makes one wrong. She's very loyal and she's also really brave. Hey, at some points in that book, Conrad is scary, okay? Don't judge.

Jeremiah. He's so sweet and nice and I really love him. He's one of those characters who always brightens the mood and I really like that. He also gets angry but he learns to shake things off, unlike his older brother. I also liked being able to read from his perspective and learning about his feelings and point of view about Belly and his brother and everything.

I have to admit something: I almost cried in this book. And it's all because of Conrad. Conrad Fisher. He's definitely a flawed character and that's what I loved about him. He is afraid of manning up and just telling Belly how he feels and I love that because it's real. Guys are afraid and I hate to say this, but we girls don't really make it too much easier, what with a lot of us dropping hints left and right but never saying anything that will help them to understand ;)

Conrad was definitely my favorite character. AND THE ENDING. WHEN HE SAID QUIETLY THAT HE WAS LYING BEFORE ABOUT NEVER CARING, I BASICALLY SCREAMED AND EARNED MYSELF A COUPLE OF WEIRD LOOKS. Conrad was sweet when he wanted to be and I was glad for those moments: the sweet Con. The little kid version of Con was sweet too.

Steven and Taylor weren't really talked about in this book, definitely not as much as in the first book. Taylor was sometimes mentioned but all in all, I didn't really like her. Taylor is really bossy and pushy and she is more obsessed with guys that she can't have rather than caring about Belly's feelings.

<spoiler>Susannah died. That was really sudden. By about page 5 or so, we already learned that she passed away and that was really sad.</spoiler>

I would recommend this book to romance lovers and drama readers.
