The Picture of Dorian Gray - Oscar Wilde - UPDATED REVIEW

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde  Genre : Classics Blurb (on back of book) : Oscar Wilde’s only novel is the dreamlike story of a young man who sells his soul for eternal youth and beauty. In this celebrated work Wilde forged a devastating portrait of the effects of evil and debauchery on a young aesthete in late-19th-century England. Combining elements of the Gothic horror novel and decadent French fiction, the book centers on a striking premise: As Dorian Gray sinks into a life of crime and gross sensuality, his body retains perfect youth and vigor while his recently painted portrait grows day by day into a hideous record of evil, which he must keep hidden from the world. For over a century, this mesmerizing tale of horror and suspense has enjoyed wide popularity. It ranks as one of Wilde's most important creations and among the classic achievements of its kind. The Night We Said Yes - Lauren Gibaldi

The Night We Said Yes by Lauren Gibaldi
Genre: YA Realistic Fiction

See the source imageBlurb (on back of book): A fun, romantic read, perfect for fans of Sarah Dessen and Susane Colasanti! What happens when Matt and Ella reunite one year after their breakup? Are second chances really possible?
Before Matt, Ella had a plan. Get over her ex-boyfriend and graduate high school—simple as that. But Matt—the cute, shy, bespectacled bass player—was never part of that plan. And neither was attending a party that was crashed by the cops just minutes after they arrived. Or spending an entire night saying "yes" to every crazy, fun thing they could think of.
But then Matt leaves town, breaking Ella's heart. And when he shows up a year later—wanting to relive the night that brought them together—Ella isn't sure whether Matt's worth a second chance. Or if re-creating the past can help them create a different future.

MY OPINION: ****

This will be a pretty short review because honestly, this review is late and I don't remember too much...

Matt and Ella weren't my favorite couple :( They didn't seem like they were all that great together and they weren't compatible in my eyes. Also, Matt wasn't romantic. He legit ditched her.

The entire idea about saying yes kind of confused me and didn't seem like it should be in the story or the title. It would have been better as some fluffy romance.

Nick and Matt and Jake were all jerks. Wow. I've never read a book with three guys who I disliked so much. Nick... well, he was a straight out a**hole. And Matt was okay enough but he DID dump her and never called her and left her in suspense. And then he comes back and tries to get her back just like that? AND SHE TAKES HIM. And Jake... you don't date and then break up and go out with a bajillion girls and then keep coming back to your ex! Though Meg and Jake's fight was definitely my favorite part of the book!

This whole book seemed cohesive enough though parts of it seemed random and I was always confused about something, though to be fair, I did have the flu all while reading it.

I bought this book for 0.50 cents and I did enjoy it. It wasn't bad and I liked the romance. But I just thought it could have been better.

I would recommend this book to YA readers.

Main Character: Ella
Sidekick(s): Matt, Meg, Jake, Barker, etc
Villain(s): Nick, etc
