The Picture of Dorian Gray - Oscar Wilde - UPDATED REVIEW

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde  Genre : Classics Blurb (on back of book) : Oscar Wilde’s only novel is the dreamlike story of a young man who sells his soul for eternal youth and beauty. In this celebrated work Wilde forged a devastating portrait of the effects of evil and debauchery on a young aesthete in late-19th-century England. Combining elements of the Gothic horror novel and decadent French fiction, the book centers on a striking premise: As Dorian Gray sinks into a life of crime and gross sensuality, his body retains perfect youth and vigor while his recently painted portrait grows day by day into a hideous record of evil, which he must keep hidden from the world. For over a century, this mesmerizing tale of horror and suspense has enjoyed wide popularity. It ranks as one of Wilde's most important creations and among the classic achievements of its kind. Blurb (on back of book): "Bella?"
Edward's soft voice came from behind me. I turned to see him spring lightly up the porch steps, his hair windblown from running. He pulled me into his arms at once, just like he had in the parking lot, and kissed me again.
This kiss frightened me. There was too much tension, too strong an edge to the way his lips crushed mine—like he was afraid we had only so much time left to us.

As Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob—knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death. But which is which?
Readers captivated by Twilight and New Moon will eagerly devour Eclipse, the much-anticipated third book in Stephenie Meyer's riveting vampire love saga.

MY OPINION: *****

I loved reading this book! Following the many adventures of Bella Swan will keep readers wanting to read more. And more. And more.

This series is an amazing series. The way of writing is enough to keep anyone wanting to know what happens next. Eclipse is definitely something to add to your bookshelf. I like how Bella is such a strong character throughout the book, and bravely faces her many various challenges. I think that Bella is forced to face many new problems throughout this book, most especially being forced to choose between Jacob and Edward (personally, I would choose Jacob :) - comment below on who you would choose), and also that so many vampires are after her.

I saw the film version of this book first, and I think that the book follows very closely to the film (yes, I know it is supposed to be the other way around, so don't judge me!), and I like how the book really goes into depth and describe how everything is going.

Jacob becomes a much bigger character in this book, and I think that he becomes a major-er character here. Jacob plays a big role in Bella's life, and also in her decisions.

Edward is still the same: overprotective, romantic, etc. Edward is also learning to get over his prejudice of Jacob Black: werewolf.

Overall, I think that this book is amazing, and that very mature preteens and teens should read this, especially females :)

Main Character: Bella Swan
Sidekick(s): Edward, Alice, Jacob, Carlisle, Emmett, Esme, Charlie, Renee, Jasper, Rosalie, etc
Villain(s): Victoria, the Volturi, etc
Fantasy/Romance Elements: Unreal characters, creatures, and settings. Bella has a romantic interest in Edward and Jacob, while other couples share romantic moments on the side.
